Robin Dick was born in Bonn in 1998 and when he was just six years old his uncle introduced him to drums for the first time. Drumming has been a huge part of his life ever since.
Manfred Steinhoff, an experienced jazz drummer, taught him the basics in his first lesson. Four years later he moved to Popfarm in North Rhine-Westphalia where he was taught by top teachers such as Sonja Nickenig, Josef Kirschgen, Julio Baterista and Martell Beigang. Robin soon founded his first band “Doorroad” with several other students, with whom he recorded and performed their own professional music. Robin gained his first orchestral experience with the Youth Wind Orchestra of the city of Sankt Augustin (Jugendblasorchester der Stadt Sankt Augustin). In 2015 he joined the band “Tendoronis” and played with them regularly before moving on to his first semi-professional band “GANZ & GAR - die Westernhagen Tribute Band” two years later. Since then he has played a number of shows in front of large audiences. But Robin didn’t stop there! Two years ago, along with Nico Pohl, he founded the band “GUTSO”, a German-language rock & pop band that criticises current and social issues in their lyrics. Robin's first book "Six Steps to a Drummer's Success" includes four play-alongs of GUTSO songs. Robin also regularly plays with the Billy Idol Tribute Band “IdolX Rocks”. In 2019, Robin started a full-time course at the Drummers Institute, “one of the finest schools in Europe” (Modern Drummer Magazine) and will successfully complete the course later this year. Robin has been taught by the following teachers: Manfred Steinhoff, Sonja Nickenig, Josef Kirschgen, Julio Baterista, Martell Beigang, Michael Mertens, Jan Rohlfing, Andy Gillmann, Eric Harings, Wolfgang Diekmann, Jürgen Schuld, Alfonso "Poncho" Valdes, Hendrik Lensing, Manni von Bohr, Martin Hesselbach, Ralf Gustke and Anika Nilles. |
